I can write no stately proem
As a prelude to my lay;（我写不出富丽堂皇的诗篇，如序幕般浮现眼前。）
From a poet to a poem
I would dare to say.（但诗于诗人而言，我总尽力将之呈现。）
For if of these fallen petals
Once to you seem fair,
Love will waft it till it settles
On your hair.（若那飘零而下的花瓣，
你有心待见，它落地一刻，爱亦拂落在你发梢间。）
And when wind and winter harden
All the loveless land,（若那寒风瑟瑟，遍传冬日讯息，纵是绝爱贫瘠的土地，）
It will whisper of the garden,
You will understand.（也能变身花园，轻吟挂念，你便恍然大悟。）
